README
SaltBash is a cooking site written as if your kitchen were a Unix shell. It is for people who read documentation for fun and still need to get dinner on the table.
What is here
- recipes/ 9 files
- Shell Recipes. Real, cookable recipes written as shell scripts, with the ingredients and method in plain English on the same page.
- man/ 8 files
- Manual pages. Reference pages for ingredients and techniques, with OPTIONS, EXAMPLES, and an honest BUGS section.
- weekly/ 8 files
- Command of the Week. One kitchen habit a week, written up as a command.
- incidents/ 9 files
- Kitchen Incidents. Things that went wrong, filed as error messages and stack traces, followed by a blameless postmortem.
- releases/ 8 files
- Release Notes. What is in season, what is deprecated, and what the known issues are.
The fine print
- The recipes are real. Quantities, temperatures, and times are meant to be cooked from. If something reads wrong, trust your nose and a thermometer over a joke.
- The commands are not real. There is no salt binary. Please do not paste the scripts into a terminal.
- This site has no accounts, no comments, no tracking, and no forms. The terminal on the home page runs in your browser and sends nothing anywhere.
- There is one sponsor slot. It is currently empty.
Disclaimer
SaltBash is a parody cooking site. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any shell, operating system, software project, appliance maker, or food brand, all of whom are presumably busy. The recipes are real recipes. The commands are not real commands, so please do not paste them into a terminal.
