TypeError: Expected tsp, received tbsp
TypeError: unit mismatch in muffins.sh line 9
expected: baking-soda 1 tsp
received: baking-soda 1 tbsp (3x)
at measure (drawer.c:4)
at mix (bowl.c:12)
at bake (oven.c:88)
muffins: rose fast, then fell. flavor: soap, metal.
Impact
Twelve muffins with a bitter, soapy taste. Eaten by nobody except the one person who eats everything.
Root cause
The abbreviations tsp and tbsp differ by one letter and a factor of three. The spoon was taken from the drawer without reading it.
Resolution
Batch discarded and rebaked with 1 tsp. Fixed.
Action items
- Read the spoon, not just the recipe.
- Too much baking soda tastes soapy and metallic, and makes baked goods rise quickly and then collapse. Measure it level.
- Write tablespoon in full when writing a recipe for someone else.
